On January 22nd, Het Laatste Nieuws reported Liverpool had initiated contact to sign Bilal El Khannouss but no deal took shape in the winter market. The Merseyside club are still keen on the KRC Genk star and are now joined by Tottenham Hotspur in the transfer chase.

That’s according to Voetbal Krant, who provide the latest on a Liverpool and Tottenham pursuit of the 19-year-old.

The attacking midfielder has managed three goals and eight assists from 43 games, and his impressive performances have seen Liverpool, Tottenham and Atlético Madrid take notice.

It’s claimed these three clubs ‘make a weekly appearance’ in the stands to keep a close watch on the player.

The Reds, Spurs and the La Liga side all ‘plan to make a move’ for the Genk star in the summer.

Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig are also keen on the Morocco international, and could soon make a move, once they receive a green signal from the Jupiler Pro League side.

The report adds all interested parties, including Liverpool and Tottenham, are ‘currently in exploratory talks’. El Khannouss is ‘most likely’ playing his last few matches for Genk, indicating that an exit could be on the cards for him in the summer.

His deal lasts until 2027 and is currently valued at €25m, but the report states Genk are yet to decide the Moroccan’s asking price.
