‘Advances’ from Liverpool and Manchester United for Lanús youngster Julio Soler have prompted River Plate to make their move for the full-back.
That’s according to journalist Jonathan Riniti on El Crack Deportivo, relayed by Soy del Millo, who says both of the Premier League side have made moved for the 19-year-old.
They explain that Europe continue to scout Argentina for young talent and Soler is one of those that has been earning attention.
River Plate are aware of this growing interest and are interested in Soler themselves as they eye up an alternative to Marcos Acuña.
That’s seen them now step up their efforts for the youngster, wary of Liverpool or Manchester United getting their before them.
“Sabiendo que no se tiene que dormir ante los avances de Manchester United y Liverpool, River va a la carga por Julio Soler de Lanús. Gallardo lo quiere sí o sí como alternativa de Acuña. Deberá negociar de manera urgente con el Granate para que no termine en manos de los gigantes de la Premier League “, confirmó Jonathan Riniti en El Crack Deportivo.
“Knowing that they cannot sleep in the face of Manchester United and Liverpool’s advances, River is going for Julio Soler from Lanús,” Riniti told El Crack Deportivo.
“Gallardo wants him no matter what as an alternative to Acuña. He will have to negotiate urgently with Granate so that he does not end up in the hands of the Premier League giants.”
Soy del Millo add that Soler has a contract with Lanús until 2026 and the Argentine club have ‘high demands’ for the youngster despite his contract ending in a year’s time.
Transfermarkt currently value him at $6m, but the suggestion is that any suitors would need considerably more than that to get the full-back. The potential interest from Liverpool and Manchester United is seen as something that will only drive his price up too.
This is the first time United have been brought into the mix, but Liverpool were linked earlier this year and even said to have put a call into Lanús about him.
