Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva is close to signing for Inter Milan, following reports Jurgen Klopp has given his nod to the transfer.
Lucas hasn’t been playing regularly this season, and has only started a couple of games as a centre back. With Joe Gomez returning from a long term injury, it seems Lucas would be allowed to leave next month.
There are talks about a loan deal with the option to make it permanent. According to a latest report on Calciomercato, Inter Milan have reached an agreement with Liverpool over the transfer of the 29-year-old, and the Serie A giants will present Lucas as a ‘Christmas present’ to manager Stefano Pioli.
Calciomercato say Inter Milan had also considered signing Chelsea’s John Obi Mikel and Wolfsburg’s Luiz Gustavo, but they’ve finally decided to sign the Liverpool star.
Inter Milan are now reportedly waiting to complete a couple of assignments before completing a move for Lucas.
The Brazilian has spent more than nine years at Anfield, but it now appears he could be finally switching clubs.
