Arsenal remain keen on Empoli youngster Samuele Ricci, who has been labelled as a mini Jorginho.
Gazzetta Dello Sport explain that Ricci is considered a ‘phenomenon’ for Empoli, showing a maturity and awareness that is unusual for a player of his age.
He’s continued to shine this year in Serie A, playing a key role in Empoli, currently sitting ninth in the table.
While not a ‘physical colossus’, he makes himself look like a giant, showing vision, understanding of situations and space while boasting the skills of an older player.
In other words, he’s ‘a little Jorginho’, and that’s something that hasn’t gone unnoticed, with him ‘liked’ in the Premier League, particularly at Arsenal.
That’s something we’ve heard before, with a report in March last year stating that Arsenal had initiated contact alongside Leicester.
That was followed by a claim that they were forced to wait before making a bid, although it was made clear that their interest had never waned.
It seems it remains after his impressive displays this season, with it, made clear he is still ‘liked’ at the Emirates.
There is no hint they could make a move or have initiated contact about a move, but with Mikel Arteta recently admitting he needs another midfielder, perhaps that could change in the coming weeks.
