To the surprise of no one, Emerson Palmieri is being linked with a move back to Italy once again this week.
This time, more than the stories we’re now used to seeing, his agent has also spoken out about the chances of his transfer to Serie A.
Fernando Garcia was interviewed by FC Inter News, and when asked about the chances of Inter Milan getting the player on a free loan, he basically ruled it out.
“Absolutely not. Chelsea eventually want to monetise his departure. Not having liquidity is a problem,” said Garcia.
The agent has also confirmed that some clubs have already made approaches to sign the player, presumably ahead of the winter market.
“Some teams have already done some polls, but I don’t reveal which ones. How much does he cost? We haven’t talked about it.”
Emerson Palmieri joined Chelsea in a €20m deal from AS Roma in January 2018, and it only took a year until the rumours of a return to Italy started circling.
Things got more serious following the arrival of Frank Lampard, since the Brazilian doesn’t seem to be one of the manager’s favourites.
Despite starting in Chelsea’s last two Champions League games, Palmieri only has seven appearances this season, with only eight minutes played in the Premier League, so a departure from Stamford Bridge wouldn’t be a surprise.
