The Spanisih media continues to report that Lionel Messi has the option of leaving Barcelona in case he decides to.

Several outlets have been reporting this week. It started with Cadena SER, who said his contract with the Catalan side has a clause which says he can move for free if he makes the club aware before May.

Then the news was confirmed by El País. They heard sources from Barça saying the clause is valid for every summer until his contract expires in 2021. They just couldn’t check if there would be money involved or if he can indeed leave for free.

And now it’s time for El Chiringuito to confirm the claims as well. And surprisingly, the outlet who are famous for sticking at Real Madrid’s side are actually saying Messi should stay.

They say the Argentine star’s entourage has confirmed the clause, but added that he’s ‘certainly staying’ at Barcelona.

Still, this is quite an eyebrow raising story, which will surely lead to lots of rumours ahead of next summer.
