Ajax have moved closed in their efforts to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Steven Bergwijn this summer.

Two days ago, Spurs finalised an agreement for the forward’s sale to the Eredivisie winners. That allowed the Netherlands international to fly to his country and then carry out his medical tests with Ajax.

On July 6th, De Telegraaf stated the player was pictured coming out of the Amsterdam UMC on Wednesday morning, after finishing his medical examinations.

Since then, there have been a few reports explaining the current Tottenham man has already signed his contract with the Dutch champions.

However, this claim has been dismissed by journalist Mike Verweij, who took to Twitter to state the suggestion Bergwijn has signed with Ajax is ‘incorrect’. The deal is still on track to be completed.

De Telegaarf state there is a ‘limited risk’ in the operation to take former PSV Eindhoven man from Tottenham to Ajax.

It’s claimed Bergwijn will sign the five-year deal with Alfred Schreuder’s side on Friday morning, and after that, his transfer to Ajax will be made official.
