Sunday’s edition of Spanish newspaper AS had a huge article on Rodri being the The New King of Manchester.
The article was gushing with praise and named the midfielder as the ‘undisputed star’ of the team, rather than someone like Erling Haaland.
It’s felt that Rodri plays a big part in defence and attack for Pep Guardiola’s side and just manages to keep everything ticking over at the highest level.
AS explain how comfortable Rodri’s life is in Manchester, where he lives with his partner Laura. He often goes to Italian restaurant Vero Moderno, where teammates and coaching staff also like to visit.
Multiple City players, and coaching staff including Guardiola, live in the city centre and AS says that means they train together in the morning and almost live together in the afternoon.
Rodri himself is quoted as saying: “I always say that we are like the UN. There are players of a lot of nationalities in the squad,
each one with his language, his culture or his religion, but we all understand and respect each other. There are no groups, no margins, no isolated people. It seems to me to be an important part of our success.”
AS then add about the midfielder: ‘There is no one in the club who speaks badly of him. He is a captain with capital letters. He greets all employees kindly. He gently tells them to stop making noise for a few minutes when he must make a video recording. He mixes with fans who tour the stadium without the slightest attempt to avoid them.’
