Östersunds FK sporting director David Webb has confirmed to the Swedish media they are interested in Everton youngster Bassala Sambou.

The 21 year old has been linked with a move to the Swedish club in recent days.

Speaking to Fotboll Direkt, Webb was asked about reported interested from OFK for the Everton forward: “He is a player we are following closely and that we would like to see at the club. We’ve not offered him a contract yet, but we are following the player carefully and if we were to recruit him, we think he can do well with us. However, we are not the only club.”

With Sambou’s contract Everton set to expire this summer OFK have the opportunity to snap up the young forward on a free transfer.

A transfer to Sweden could help give Sambou’s career a kickstart and give him an opportunity to get regular first team football.

In the last two seasons OFK have been the surprise package in the Swedish league. Under Graham Potter they reached the knockout stages of the Europa League and they’ve produced players like Ken Sema (now at Watford) and Saman Ghoddos (Amiens), who both got moves last summer.

The German joined the Toffees from Coventry City on a three year contract in 2016 but he’s yet to make a senior appearance for the club.
