Patrick Roberts is like a new signing for Girona, explains Friday’s edition of Sport.

The Manchester City player is on loan in Spain for the season, and had put in some really good performances before he picked up an injury in December. Roberts had struggled to get into the Girona team before that and had to fight for his chance.

That he got it, took it, and immediately became a really good addition to the side was the subject of much praise in the Spanish sport media, so it was inevitable that there’d be a big reaction to his injury.

Since losing Roberts to the hamstring problem, Girona haven’t won a game. It’s been an unlucky 13 of successive matches without picking up a victory. They now find themselves 17th in La Liga and in a relegation battle.

Roberts has returned to fitness this week and has been training normally ‘for days’, there’s a hope he could be available for the weekend.

Manchester City obviously won’t want things rushed and will be watching the 22 year old closely.
