Leeds United have been repeatedly linked with FC Porto’s Otavio this summer, but it’s now believed the player will be going nowhere.

It’s conceivable the Premier League club were looking at the player to replace Raphinha, who was presented with fanfare by Barcelona on Friday, however, Porto’s stance over an asking price slowed the deal.

Saturday’s edition of Record explains the Portuguese club had been pointing towards Otavio’s €40m release clause for any club who wanted to take him this summer. There’d been interest from England, with Leeds United at the ‘head’ of the queue of clubs to sign him.

They didn’t want to pay the €40m and moved for other targets, and now Otavio’s clause has risen to €60m. According to his contract, the €40m was only applicable until mid July and now it’s the higher figure.

Record believe that given nobody wanted to pay €40m, it’s pretty certain they won’t pay €60m, and the player is described as being ‘like a new signing’ for Porto.
