Schalke youngster Mehmet Can Aydin has revealed Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan is ‘like a big brother’ to him as he makes his way in the game.
Aydin is currently making his way up the ranks at Schalke after making his debut for the German side in the Bundesliga in April this year.
He’s highly rated at the club and has since established himself a first-team regular for them in the 2.Bundesliga this season.
They’ll be hoping for rapid development from the 19-year-old, who is showing signs he could be a regular for the club for years to come.
Someone who knows all about that is Manchester City midfielder Gundogan, who was a youth player at Schalke earlier in his career before working his way up the ladder in Germany with spells at Bochum Nurnberg and then Dortmund.
He’s since established himself as a star a Manchester City under Pep Guardiola and for the German National Team, where he is also a key player for Hansi Flick.
At 31-years-old he can definitely be classed as experienced, and it seems he’s keen to help out the next generation of German footballers, Aydin in particular.
“Ilkay Gündogan is like a big brother to me. We talk very often,” the 19-year-old told MV Online.
“When I play a good game, he praises me. If I show a bad game, I can ask him for tips.”
“He is the captain of Manchester City at the moment, you can learn a lot there.”
