It was first reported by Le10 Sport at the beginning of the month, and it’s just been confirmed by L’Equipe: Edimilson Fernandes is of interest to Lyon in France.

Currently loaned to Fiorentina in Italy, the West Ham’s future both in Serie A and at London Stadium remains uncertain until Vincenzo Montella makes a final decision on the Switzerland international at the end of the season.

That was the latest from Florence a couple of days ago, and little appears to have changed, meaning Lyon’s interest could just end up being that if the Italians cough up the €8m to make the deal permanent.

L’Equipe don’t go overboard with their mention of the Swiss, but they do make it clear the 23-year-old has caught the attention of the Lyon scouting team as they prepare for the departure of Tanguy Ndombele (and perhaps Lucas Tousart’s).

No fee is mentioned, but with a decent season under his belt in Italy, perhaps West Ham could ask for a little bit more than the pre-agreed €8m with Fiorentina should he return to London in the next few months.

One to keep in mind and come back to (or not) once the Italians have made up their mind.
