While Monaco’s interest in Fulham super starlet Ryan Sessègnon isn’t new, the fact they’ve actually made a move to try and sign him is.
Back in mid-April, a number of articles emerged reporting the Ligue 1 side had watched the ‘next Gareth Bale’ in action, sending Michael Emenalo, Chelsea’s former director of football, along to keep an eye on his performances.
With the likes of Tottenham and Manchester United also in the mix for the Fulham winger, it seemed like hope more than anything else, just in case he didn’t want to make the leap to a big club at the age of 17.
Well, France Football claim in their weekly magazine that, as well as scouting him, the principality side have ‘made an approach’ for the player, although what that means isn’t explained.
It could just be they checked with his agent if he’d be interested in joining them, or they actually made a bid.
However, the French magazine do make it very clear Monaco ‘aren’t starting as favourites’ in the race to sign Sessegnon from Fulham.
To us, that sounds very much like he will be leaving Craven Cottage for much greener pastures, like Wembley or Old Trafford.
