Somewhat forgotten at Marseille, Grégory Sertic has been looking for a new club in January.
However, despite an offer to play in the Championship with Aston Villa, the utility man has decided to focus on a potential move to either Spain or the United States instead.
Téléfoot in France are reporting the Marseille player was approached by the Villains for a six-month loan until the end of the season, which the Ligue 1 club seemingly accepted, only to be rebuffed by the defensive midfielder himself.
The 29-year-old has only featured four times for the French side under Rudi Garcia in the current campaign, meaning a move elsewhere is needed to prevent his career from stagnating any further.
Perhaps Dean Smith couldn’t guarantee the midfielder, who can also play in the heart of the defence, enough game time or he simply refused because he feels La Liga or the MLS are better suited for him than the Championship at this point in his career.
Either way, he won’t be going to Aston Villa.
