Yet to be used by Maurizio Sarri and with a Chelsea contract ending in June 2019, it really does feel like Gary Cahill’s time at Stamford Bridge is coming to an end.

It seems like, barring a strange turn of events, the 32-year-old will be leaving the Premier League club next summer, and he will do so for free.

The opportunity to sign the defender is one a few teams are said to be keeping an eye on, as reported by La Gazette des Transferts in France.

According to the French magazine, teams like Bordeaux and Marseille wouldn’t be against the England international’s expertise, perhaps for a year or so, while other clubs in England, such as Watford and Aston Villa, are also said to be waiting to see what he does next.

Since joining Chelsea from Bolton in 2012, Cahill has made 282 appearances for the Blues, and has scored a surprising number of goals (25) during his six years there.

Our guess is he’ll likely stay in England, but maybe there’s a chance he’ll feel like trying something new, and there’s worse places to do that than the south of France.
