With Yannick Bolasie now ‘close’ to agreeing a loan to Aston Villa, the Everton winger will be able to get some minutes under his belt in hope to recapture the form prior to his injury.

The DR Congo international has missed nearly two years of professional football since rupturing his cruciate ligaments in December 2016, and is understandably in need of game time which the Toffees aren’t prepared to give him in abundance just yet.

Steve Bruce admitted his side were closing in on a temporary deal for the 29-year-old, but things could have been very different for Bolasie.

According to RMC Sport in France, the former Crystal Palace star was offered to OGC Nice a few weeks ago, in the hope the Ligue 1 side would be willing to help him get back on his feet.

Unfortunately, Patrick Vieira’s side were seemingly not willing to take the risk, which led to the Championship options.

Prior to his injury, Bolasie had made 32 appearances for the Toffees, scoring two goals and picking up four assists.
