A month or so ago, soon after José Mourinho had been sacked, a rumour emerged that Roberto Martínez could end up at Tottenham next season.
It was explained that Pini Zahavi had been mandated by the Spanish manager to find him a club once he steps down from the Belgium national team after the Euros, and the agent, who gets on very well with Daniel Levy, had highlighted Spurs as a landing spot.
The London club were seen as the ‘most credible track’ for the former Everton man, and that appears to now be backed up by journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who specialises on all things Belgium.
Taking to social media, he states that ‘Uncle Pini’, clearly Zahavi, was ‘trying to convince Roberto Martínez to sign at Tottenham with the help of Daniel Levy’.

That suggests the Spurs chairman wants the 47-year-old in North London next season, but there is some reluctance from the man himself.
Whether that’s because he’s already tried Premier League football isn’t stated, but this information does point towards it being a push from Tottenham through Levy and his good friend Zahavi rather than it being the Spaniard being desperate for the job.
First, though, Martínez will want to fully focus on the Euros and getting Belgium as far as possible in the competition.
