Tottenham Hotspur’s quest for a new manager continues to get a lot of attention from the Italian media, where most candidates for the job could be coming from.
Just today, we’ve already covered stories regarding Spurs’ interest in coaches such as Antonio Conte and Simone Inzaghi, but now there’s a third option being talked about, and that’s Gennaro Gattuso.
The claims come from journalist Ciro Venerato, of Rai Sport, who spoke to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli today.
He says the manager is leaving the Serie A side at the end of the season, and has become one of the alternatives for Tottenham and Daniel Levy this summer.
“Gattuso will not be the Napoli coach from Monday, the Napoli players have known for months that Rino will no longer be the Napoli coach. Lazio and Juventus are on Gattuso, but the news of the day is that Tottenham have put Gattuso on the list of candidates for the next coach,” said Venerato (via CalcioNapoli24).
“The English club have been dealing with Conte for a month, but now also like Gattuso. Tottenham president Daniel Levy has seen many Napoli matches and has watched Gattuso closely. He was impressed by the quality of the game and the quality of the ideas seeing the matches against Milan and Roma.”
With so many managers getting linked to the Tottenham job, we can only assume that the London side has been contacting several options to get more information before choosing their preference.
For example, back on Wednesday, the German media claimed that Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic is now a target for Spurs as well.
