Arsenal picked up a rather convincing 2-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday evening and it was their first win in the Champions League this season.
It came after the struggle of beating Leicester City in the Premier League at the weekend and before that Arsenal were winless in two games.
L’Equipe have now looked at the game in much more detail, offering their trademark harsh ratings for the tie… and they don’t seem to be too keen in hype on the Gunners.
They’ve handed Arsenal players an average ranking of 5.8, with Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka picking up a rating of 7 each, the highest in Arteta’s side, with the manager also rated at 7.
All three of Gabriel, William Saliba and goalkeeper David Raya were handed a rating of 6. Jurrien Timber, who has grown in stature in recent weeks, was rated at 5 – the same as summer signing Riccardo Calafiori.
The newspaper didn’t think that the midfield pairing of Thomas Partey and Declan Rice impressed much, with the duo rated at 5 and 6 respectively. Gabriel Martinelli, who had returned to scoring against Leicester, was given a 6 – much like Leandro Trossard.
PSG were seen as much worse and their average rating stood at a lowly 3.6.
