Wednesday evening saw L’Equipe come out with the big news that both Everton and Manchester United were in talks to try and get Kurt Zouma from Chelsea.

The Toffees wanted the young Frenchman on loan, while the Red Devils would have preferred to sign José Mourinho’s former pupil permanently.

However, as of Thursday morning, neither team had managed to convince Chelsea, but the same newspaper (via their reporter Bilel Ghazi) are now reporting, an hour and a half before the deadline, that Everton have reached an agreement with the Blues for the centre-back.

Zouma will be arriving at Goodison Park on loan, and Marco Silva’s side now have a race agains the clock to sort out the defender’s personal terms.

What this means for the transfer of Yerry Mina remains to be seen, but it could be that the Portuguese manager has decided to revamp the whole centre of his defence and is prepared to welcome the pair.
