Dick Advocaat has turned his attentions to Sunderland again after claims from AmkSpor Fenerbahçe are chasing Sunderland’s Wahbi Khazri.
The Turkish club’s boss Advocaat is apparently a huge admirer of Khazri and he’s told the Fenerbahçe board to sign the 26-year old to solve his problems in the Fenerbahçe midfield.
Khazri’s former teammate Jeremain Lens could play a key role for this transfer after AmkSpor’s claims the attacker has already convinced Khazri to join Fenerbahçe.
Lens reportedly told Khazri: ‘Don’t think twice (about this offer). They have wonderful fans, they are very passionate. You’ll feel you are going to play for a big, big, club.’
The Turkish media love paraphrasing, so the wording is best taken with a pinch of salt.
It’s understood Fenerbahçe’s plan for this transfer is an initial loan with a view to buying in the summer. Fenerbahçe are also set to offer former West Ham striker Emmanuel Emenike to Sunderland as a part of this deal and the Black Cats could certainly entertain the idea. previously it was claimed Emenike could be offered to Sunderland as part of a Lens purchase.
Khazri was also a target for Fenerbahçe last summer, but the two clubs were unable to agree a deal for him. The 25-year old Khazri joined Sunderland from Bordeaux for €12m and immediately played a part in the club’s survival, but so far this season he hasn’t been a regular in David Moyes’ starting eleven.
