Djene Dakonam, simply known as Djene, joined Getafe from Belgian club Sint-Truiden last summer, signing a five-year deal with the Spanish club.

He is primarily a central defender, but can also play as a right-back. He started in the full-back position on one occasion, while he played as a centre-back in the remaining 35 games in the league last season.

The 26-year-old’s form for Getafe has not gone unnoticed. France Football now reports that Djene is attracting interest from Sevilla and Leicester City in the summer transfer window.

The Andalusian club have already lost Clement Lenglet as the French defender completed a move to Barcelona.

Djene still has four years left on his current deal and has a release clause €35m in his contract at Getafe. The report claims Sevilla are unwilling to meet the Togolese international’s asking price. Pablo Machin’s side are ready to pay €20m plus bonuses or a player as a part of the deal.

Sevilla could face competition from Leicester in signing Djene this summer. The profile of the player ‘strongly interests’ the Foxes, who are preparing a €28m offer (or more) to send to Getafe.

It should be seen if Getafe are open to the idea of lowering the price tag or if they’ll only sanction Djene’s sale if the interested clubs are ready to pay his release clause. A €28m offer may be too big for the club to turn down.
