These days in football, speed is almost everything.

With the likes of Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland the most coveted players in the world, there is a need for centre-backs to be equally as quick, which is why players like Jeremiah St. Juste are in demand.

The defender, according to SportBild journalist Christian Falk, is wanted by both Leicester City and West Ham United, and he so happens to be ‘the fastest player in Bundesliga’.

Clocked at 36.63 km/h, the defender has caught the eye of the Foxes and the Hammers with his performances, with Brendan Rodgers clearly wanting to build a very quick backline at King Power Stadium.

Wesley Fofana isn’t exactly slow in his own right, meaning a combination of him and St. Juste for Leicester could allow the Premier League side to play higher up the pitch without fearing the space left behind them, knowing the centre-backs could catch up with any forward who slithers his way past them.

As for West Ham, they are in need of a centre-back regardless of how fast he can run, currently relying on a much maligned Kurt Zouma, Issa Diop and Craig Dawson while Angelo Ogbonna recovers from his cruciate ligament rupture.

Falk explains Leicester and their London counterparts are ‘interested’ in the 25-year-old, but they will face competition from the likes of Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund, who are also in the process of restructuring their backlines.

It’s now up to West Ham and co. to convince both St. Juste and 1. FSV Mainz 05 that a transfer this summer would be best for all involved.
