Leicester and Watford are both interested in Lazio centre back Bastos this summer, report Corriere Della Sera.
The 27-year-old was one of the Serie A side’s better performers last season, and that appears to have caught the attention of the Premier League duo.
The newspaper doesn’t mention how much Bastos would cost the pair, or even if there are talks ongoing between the relevant parties, just the fact that Leicester and Watford have an interest in the defender.
There is a suggestion that Lazio are aware of the interest and planning for a potential departure, with a replacement already lined up.
Lazio are looking at Martin Hinteregger and would come back strongly on him should Bastos leave, although they are yet to make a proposal because that ‘would risk changing the cards on the table.’
The fact they’ve lined up a replacement, though, suggests they fear a serious bid is going to come in future. However, it seems to be dependant on other things happening.
Leicester, for example, are unlikely to make a move until something happens with Harry Maguire while Watford have their attention elsewhere at this moment in time as well.
