Leicester City are interested in Marseille’s Florian Thauvin, according to reports from Italy.

The winger’s contract expires at the end of the season and AC Milan and Sevilla are named as the other two suitors.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who state the Serie A side and the Europa League winners will face competition from the Premier League club.

It’s claimed the Frenchman is ‘liked’ by the Foxes as Brendan Rodgers’ side have ‘returned’ for the former Newcastle United man.

Any potential transfer in the next window wouldn’t be easy as the player is ‘negotiating’ a renewal with the Ligue 1 side.

Last week’s report from Calciomercato stated Milan have cooled their interest in the attacker.

Despite reports linking him to other clubs, Thauvin has not yet closed the door to continuing at Marseille beyond this campaign.

“I don’t know yet. In recent weeks there have been more important things to manage at the club, with a lot of changes,” Thauvin was quoted as saying by Calciomercato.

“As for my future, I have no idea at the moment, but one thing is certain: I have always had a good understanding with Pablo Longoria and my entourage. We’ll see what happens.

“Renewal? Pablo and my entourage had a chat in December. We have not reached an agreement, but the discussions are not closed. I knew it would be complicated for me with the injury.

“A player at the end of his contract also asks himself many questions. I want to give my best until the end and we will see, from the moment a new management is implemented why not?”

Thauvin has eight goals and seven assists in 28 league appearances for Marseille this season.
