Back in April, we covered a story from France claiming that Leicester City were interested in Benjamin Bourigeaud.
The midfielder had allegedly seduced Brendan Rodgers with his performances against the Foxes in the Conference League, and with Youri Tielemans seemingly on his way out, he was seen as a potential replacement for the Belgian.
Scoring 12 goals and assisting another 16 in 48 appearances last season, the 28-year-old was one of the better performers in Ligue 1, which caught the eye of more than one club.
His contract at Rennes expires in 2023, making him an exciting target for the likes of Leicester, whose interest is backed up on Thursday by Jeunes Footeux.
They say he’s been ‘closely watched’ by the Foxes ‘for a few months’, and ‘could be the subject of an offer from the English club in the next few days’.
In fact, Rodgers would have ‘already validated’ the player’s profile with the club, but he isn’t the only Rennes man to have ‘caught his eye’ of the manager.
The same website claim that, according to their information, Martin Terrier has also impressed him, and understandably so, since the versatile forward scored 20 goals and assisted another seven in 36 league games last year.
Something to consider as Leicester get their transfer window started.
