Sitting third in the Premier League and flourishing under Brendan Rodgers, it’s fair to say that things are going well for Leicester City at present.
Smart recruitment, a forward-thinking coach and a squad full of talent have put them back on track after a turbulent few years.
Even losing Harry Maguire to Manchester United this summer has made little difference to the Foxes forward momentum, although that is solely down to Caglar Söyüncü.
The Turkish defender arrived at Leicester last season in a £2m move from Freiburg but found himself disappointed as first-team opportunities were limited.
Maguire’s departure, though, opened up a gap in the team and presented Söyüncü with his chance to establish himself. It’s a chance he’s taken with both hands.
Ten games into the season he’s played all of them, and earned rave reviews from all corners too.
It’s been a rapid turnaround in fortunes for the defender, who is grateful for the care Leicester have shown him so far.
“Since I spent two and a half years in Germany, I have some experience of living abroad,” he told Gazete Futbol.
“That’s why I didn’t find it difficult to settle in here in Leicester. Both the inhabitants and the city are very sympathetic.
“Our team is currently doing well. My teammates, the coaching staff, the staff – all have taken good care of me since the first day, and I’m grateful for that.
“We are a young group, which benefits me most of all. In the league, we were able to achieve a good placement, which we want to keep until the end of the season.”
