Currently recovering from an injury in Doha, Middlesbrough’s Adlene Guedioura took some time out of his freer than usual schedule to chat about Riyad Mahrez and his situation at Leicester.

Apparently ‘blocked’ from leaving the Foxes over the summer, the Algeria international has enjoyed a new lease of life under Claude Puel, but that doesn’t mean he still doesn’t want to leave King Power Stadium.

Speaking to beIN Sports, relayed by L’Expression, the midfielder said: “With all due respect to Leicester, for us as Algerians, Mahrez deserves to play in one of the top four teams in the Premier League, or a big team in Spain or France like Paris Saint-Germain because he has the ability”.

Of course, the interest from some big clubs in the Leicester star has been well documented in the past, with Arsène Wenger even admitting he was a fan of the former Le Havre man, yet a move never materialised.

Claude Puel seems rather reluctant to see one of his best players go midway through the season, so unless a huge offer were to land on the Foxes’ desk in January, he’ll have to wait until the summer to hopefully get the step up in his career he so desires.

For now, it’s all about getting Leicester as high as possible in the Premier League.
