With Nampalys Mendy and (maybe Danny Drinkwater) exiting King Power Stadium before the end of the transfer window, it appears a new midfielder is becoming a bit of priority for Craig Shakespeare.

Over the past few weeks, Ludogorets PFK midfielder Anicet has been linked with a move to Leicester City, even if it has been sporadically, and the story refuses to go away.

Providing yet another update on the situation are FootMercato, who this time go one step further, claiming Shakespeare has called the player personally to try and convince him to move to the Premier League club.

A semi-regular starter for the Bulgarian side last season, playing in all of their Champions League games, the 27-year-old would prefer a move to England over one to France, where Nantes (now managed by a certain Claudio Ranieri) and Marseille are both said to be keen.

Shakespeare’s personal touch of picking up the phone and having a chat is something the midfielder appreciated a lot, suggesting his mind could already be made up.

Of course, that is all subject to Leicester and Ludogorets agreeing on a fee, and the last time there was a report on a fee, it was a mere €5m.

Bargain, right?
