There’s no two ways about it: Jamie Vardy is Leicester City’s starting striker, and that’s likely to be the case for a couple of years still.
The England international is in the form of his life under Brendan Rodgers, but there are some question marks regarding his backup, Kelechi Iheanacho.
The youngster has only featured once this season, and while a lot of it has to do with Vardy’s form, you would think a player of his talent would get more opportunities than he has so far if his manager fully trusted him.
Perhaps that’s why Leicester are reportedly looking at a striker in France who goes by the name of Habib Diallo.
Currently at FC Metz in Ligue 1, the 24-year-old has been one of his club’s better performers and attracted some interest from England with his nine goals in 16 games.
The Senegal international has carried on from his good form last year in Ligue 2, where he found the back of the net 26 times in 37 league appearances, as well as picking up six assists, and Moselle Sport claim Leicester, as well as Chelsea and Tottenham, are following him.
That’s pretty much all there is on it at this moment in time.
Whether this interest goes beyond that going forward remains to be seen, but you’d suspect that a big offer from a Premier League club would be enough to convince Metz to sell their star, regardless of his form.
