Earlier this week, we carried a report from L’Equipe, who stated Leicester City star Kasper Schmeichel has an agreement to join OGC Nice.
It was also explained the goalkeeper will be able to sign for the Ligue 1 side on a free transfer this summer, as long as the Foxes manage to bring in a replacement.
The Denmark international has less than 12 months left on his contract at Leicester, but that has not stopped L’Equipe insisting he can leave on a free in the ongoing window.
Foot Mercato have a report detailing the current situation and the possibility of the 35-year-old joining Nice.
They state the keeper doesn’t yet have a contractual agreement with Nice. Leicester, for their part, are ‘not yet ready to release’ him since they first want to sign his replacement.
It’s said Brendan Rodgers’ side are finding it ‘difficult’ to locate the ‘ideal candidate’ to replace Schmeichel. If these factors are fulfilled, there could be a chance for Nice to take the Danish custodian.
Even then, Foot Mercato explain Schmeichel would not arrive at Nice for free this summer.
