Atalanta forward Jeremie Boga turned down a late offer from Leicester City after ‘exhausting’ negotiations between the two clubs.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say the Foxes were turned down by the forward at the last minute of the transfer window.
Leicester endured something of a frustrating summer, with defender Wout Faes the only major arrival at the club.
The Belgian only arrived following Wesley Fofana’s departure to Chelsea, though, as the club’s finances meaning that there could not be further additions to Brendan Rodgers’ squad.
One player who was linked despite that was Boga, with Atalanta open to a departure if the deal was right.
Gazzetta say there was a proposal from Leicester ‘on the plate’, the Foxes offering an onerous loan deal that would have seen Atalanta pocket €4m.
The move had been approved by Giampaolo Gasperini, who was hoping that the player could rediscover his confidence and spark at the King Power.
A deal was in place after an ‘exhausting agreement’ was found between Leicester and Atalanta, but Boga decided against the move.
He had spent deadline day with his phone in his hand and ‘a thousand thoughts in his brain’, but elected against the switch and left Leicester with more transfer frustration.
