Loaned to Fenerbahce to try and get the first-team football he wasn’t going to get at King Power Stadium, Islam Slimani’s season has gone pretty badly.

Scoring just one goal in 15 league appearances this season, the 30-year-old found more luck in the Europa League, with three in seven games.

All in all, his five goals in 25 appearances in all competitions haven’t convinced Fenerbahce in the slightest, and the Algeria international is expected to return to the Foxes at the end of the season.

While he might convince Brendan Rodgers he could be of some use next season, that seems unlikely, meaning a transfer elsewhere could end up being what’s best for everyone.

One club who are looking at the player are Olympiakos in Greece, according to FosOnline, who believe Leicester will want around €10m for Slimani, who himself ‘wants to leave the Foxes’.

However, wages could be an issue, as the former Sporting CP star would like to keep a similar salary to what he currently earns in England.

Slimani is said to be ‘aware’ of the Greek side’s interest, but will first prioritise his ‘own economic interest’.

FosOnline describe Olympiakos as ‘outsiders’, but if no one in England comes knocking, they could quickly find themselves at the front of the line.
