The advisor to Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans has claimed there is ‘a lot of interest’ in his client as he continues to shine for the Foxes.

Tielemans has established himself as a key player under Brendan Rodgers since arriving in January transfer window back in 2019.

He made that move a permanent one last season and enjoyed a strong first full campaign in the Premier League afterwards, playing a pivotal role as Leicester narrowly missed out on the top four.

He’s been even better at the beginning of this season, rediscovering his best form to help the Foxes to fourth in the table while also shining on the international stage with Belgium.

At 23-years-old he is yet to hit his peak either, something the biggest clubs around Europe are sure to have made a note of.

And his advisor, Peter Smeets, insists there is interest in his services, but it is the player who would decide if anything were to come of it.

“Youri has his own dreams,” he told Sport/Voetbalmagazine, relayed by VoetbalNiuews.

“He wants to win prizes, and you usually win them at a top club.

“There is a lot of interest in him, but the question is which clubs are interesting for him.”

That would suggest Tielemans is already thinking about the future but is smart enough to know that joining one Europe’s elite may not be the best.

That is certainly wise given the struggles many of the top clubs are currently going through, with barely any having come out of the Coronavirus pandemic smelling of roses.

Indeed, given the success Leicester are enjoying at present it would be in Tielemans’ best interests to stay there and develop for a few more years.

That would work for Leicester too, who are also safe in the knowledge that they tied him down until 2023 so are in no danger of being forced into a sale either.
