A few days ago Germany’s Bild looked at Ron-Robert Zieler’s Leicester City plight. It was reported that transfer ‘poker’ was ongoing, with Zieler waiting ‘for weeks’ for a clear statement from Leicester on his future.
Keen to leave, after growing frustrated behind Kasper Schmeichel, Zieler had to wait until Leicester were sure their Danish goalkeeper wouldn’t be going anywhere. Now that looks to be the case, because Germany’s Kicker say a move to Stuttgart, the club who have wanted Zieler all along, is ‘concrete’.
The goalkeeper is having his medical tests today and the transfer will cost Stuttgart around €4m. Zieler has even accepted a pay reduction to make the return to the Bundesliga, and everything is agreed.
Moving to Stuttgart will help Zieler’s chances of making Germany’s World Cup squad, which could be part of his motivation.
Kicker sound so confident on this one that it would be no surprise if an announcement is imminent.
