Leicester City could be forgiven for feeling they got their fingers burnt in Portugal during the summer.
Whilst the club have received a lot of blame for their side of the Adrien Silva registration mess, and the player’s inability to appear until next month, there have been some suggestions in Portugal that Sporting dragged their feet purposefully.
But, not to be put off, Leicester scouted both Porto and Benfica earlier in the season, although it has to be said there’s been something of a gap since. That’s why it was notable the club sent an official to Porto v Benfica on Friday evening, report A Bola.
The Leicester spy won’t have been hugely entertained during a 0-0 draw, and there’s no hugely obvious candidates either ahead of January or next summer.
Leicester City weren’t especially strongly linked with players from either side during the summer transfer window, as they focused more on Sporting, but there’s possibilities at both Porto and Benfica.
Given the nature of the match, nobody really stood out, and it’ll be interesting to see if Leicester continue watching either of the sides and line themselves up for another, this time more organised, Portugal swoop.
