Anderlecht defender Kara Mbodj has told the Belgian club he’s considering surgery on a long-standing knee problem, so he’s ready for a move to the Premier League in the summer. The Senegal international was linked with Leicester City in the last window, along with Crystal Palace.
HLN have reported Mbodj has returned to training this morning, but it’s been claimed the defender is still angry with Anderlecht that he wasn’t granted a move to Leicester City. Subsequently Mbodj has threatened the Jupiler club that he will go undergo surgery to fix a cartilage problem in his knee.
However, Anderlecht are reluctant about Mbodj going under the knife because they need the player for the rest of the season. The Belgian giants are hoping to convince the 27-year-old surgery isn’t the only answer to his troublesome knee, and that there are other ways to treat the injury.
Leicester City have had two offers rejected by Anderlecht, with the last bid being in the region of €10m. The Belgian club were not prepared to sell Mbodji for this fee, and were holding out for €15m. Mbodji has been promised an easier move in the next transfer window, and Leicester City could sign the central defender for a reasonable fee.
