Gabriel Barbosa, known as Gabigol, may have finally chosen his destination, according to reports from Brazil. Globo Esporte and UOL say the striker travelled to Italy last night, where he’ll negotiate a contract with Inter Milan.
Gabigol would’ve chosen to go to Inter because he has the promise of being a regular starter there. He’s set to be part of the club’s rebuilding project.
The Brazilian outlets agree that Inter’s offer was of €25m. This week, his agent Wagner Ribeiro confirmed he had four offers to leave, as recent reports say they are from Juventus (€20m), Leicester (€27m) and Atletico Madrid (€25m).
As all the clubs are paying for the €18m release clause, Santos couldn’t have a word in the sale. Gabigol is getting the rest of the money, but didn’t choose the biggest offer, which was from the Foxes.
None of the websites says his signing for Inter is certain, but him flying to Italy is something that makes it very likely. Both the player and Santos want him to stay in Brazil until December and go to Europe only in January, just like Gabriel Jesus at Manchester City.
