Leicester City captain Wes Morgan has been selected in Gazzetta dello Sport’s European Team of the Week for last weekend’s round of matches.

Each week the Italian newspaper selects the best eleven from players outside of Serie A, and this week Morgan has been picked after his performance against Swansea City.

Morgan has made the cut after his outstanding display during Leicester City’s 2-1 victory over Swansea City on Saturday. The Leicester City defender was instrumental in the Premier League champions picking up all three points by scoring his side’s second gaol of the game, which turned out to be the winner due to Swansea City’s late goal.

It was a welcome return to form for the Jamaica international after his struggles against Hull City on the opening day of the season

Leicester City will be relieved they finally got a win under their belt following a slow start to the season. Claudio Ranieri’s men suffered a surprise defeat to Hull City, and could only manage a draw in a tight game with Arsenal in their first home game of the season.

Other notable players that made the selection were Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski, Chelsea star Eden Hazard and Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling.
