Leicester City currently find themselves 19th in the Premier League, and are just a few points away from safety.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side are by no means doomed and have a reasonable chance of saving themselves from relegation to the Championship.

Despite that, if claims from Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri are correct, the Foxes already have one eye to the summer and preparing for a potential drop down a division.

The Belgian journalist reports for Sky CH that Wout Faes is to leave Leicester City in the summer. The defender is said to have reached an agreement with the Foxes that he can depart for an ‘interesting offer’ after this season.

Whilst that may not be much of a surprise, it’s the reasoning which is questionable at this stage and sounds an odd mindset for the player or club to have.

The report states: ‘Financial necessity is already pushing the English leaders to anticipate the disaster and therefore to establish the first discussions with the players likely to be sold, a list which includes… Wout Faes.

‘If we follow this scenario linked to the possible relegation of the English club, Wout Faes could then leave the Premier League at half the price of his market value.’

Lazio are presented as an interested party, and it’s suggested there’s likely to be widespread interest… which claims like this are almost certainly designed to encourage.

Leicester City aren’t down and out yet, and it’s perhaps a bit galling that a player’s camp – and that would be the assumption given it’s come via a Belgian journalist – is hanging out a public fishing rod for interest already and using relegation as a bargain temptation.
