Leicester City have joined the race to sign SPAL defender Kevin Bonifazi, according to reports in the Italian media. The 20-year-old has impressed for the Serie B side in recent months as the club look to achieve promotion to Serie A this season.
TMW have confirmed Leicester City are sending scouts to SPAL’s clash with Cesena on Sunday to monitor the progression of Bonifazi. Leicester City could look to strengthen in defence during the next transfer window, and the youngster is an option to the Premier League sides.
It’s been claimed Leicester City could be looking at Bonifazi as an alternative to Sassuolo defender Francesco Acerbi after the Premier League champions allegedly made attempts to sign the Italian in the last window. However, Leicester City will face competition to sign Bonifazi from several Serie A sides.
SPAL have been the surprise package of Serie B this season, and could get promotion to the top flight despite only coming up from Lega Pro last year.
Bonifazi has been a key player since becoming a regular in the starting eleven last November, and SPAL have also been aided by former Leeds United forward Mirco Antenucci’s goals.
