Leicester City forward Rachid Ghezzal has held talks with Fiorentina over a move, but the situation is currently on ‘standby’.

That’s according to his agent, who has confirmed that the relevant parties are talking about making a deal happen this summer.

Ghezzal has been linked with a return to the Italian club after spending last season on loan with the Serie A side.

There have been numerous reports in Italy about a potential deal, with the latest stating that Fiorentina were ‘carefully thinking’ about it and Leicester were pushing for them to cough up the €10m they want for the Algerian.

The Foxes are very much open to selling the forward, with him not a part of Brendan Rodgers’ plans after making just 23 appearances since moving to Leicester in 2018.

And his agent has confirmed that they are working on making a permanent move happen as Ghezzal wants the switch.

“We talked to Fiorentina,” he told Fiorentina.it

“We didn’t find an agreement, and for now the situation is on standby.

“Our intention is to return to Fiorentina, but it doesn’t just depend on the player, it also depends on the two teams and in any case we are talking about it.”
