Less than an hour, we brought you the news from Italy and France that Fiorentina had turned their attention to Leicester City’s Rachid Ghezzal.
Their desire to bolster their front line saw them look at Reims’ Rémi Oudin, only for that avenue to fade away, leaving them with no option but to search for backup plans.
Hatem Ben Arfa and Ghezzal both landed on their list, and soon after enquiring, the deal is now ‘done’.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Algeria international, who was already on his way to Florence just in case an agreement could be reached between Leicester and the Serie A side, will join Franck Ribéry in Italy next season.
The winger will join on a loan for the current season, and Fiorentina will have an option to buy him at any point during the coming year.
The numbers have yet to filter through, and when they do, we’ll try and update you.
Either way, it seems Brendan Rodgers rids himself of an unwanted player while Ghezzal looks like he will get some first-team football under his belt.
Edit: It didn’t take long, but Gianluca Di Marzio has the details: €300k up front with a view to buy at €9.7m.
