Leicester City loanee Islam Slimani has said ‘yes’ to a return to Sporting, according to the Portuguese media this Thursday.
Newspaper A Bola claims that when contacted by the Lions about the possibility of a comeback, the striker has responded with a positive answer.
Slimani knows he’s not staying at Fenerbahce, where he has five goals in 25 appearances this season. And he’s not wanted by manager Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City either.
A Bola says the Foxes are also in favour of the operation, and shouldn’t put obstacles in a deal which involves a loan with a buying option.
But there’s still an issue in all this, which is Slimani’s salary. The newspaper claims that the striker currently makes €2.5m net per season, and Sporting can’t afford that.
Slimani knows about the Lions’ situation, and would even take a pay cut. That’s why he will wait and see how far can the Lisbon side go in terms of wages.
