It was a worry on Monday, and it’s been made official on Tuesday: Wesley Fofana will not take part in France U21s’ two games during the international break.

The new Leicester City star, signed in the summer for a fee that could reach €40m, was reportedly being looked over by the national team staff regarding a knee issue, with a decision set to be made at a later date.

Well, the French Football Federation announced on their website early on Tuesday afternoon that the centre-back would not be taking part in the two games and won’t be replaced by another player.

This suggests the 19-year-old will be sent back to King Power Stadium so they can nurse him back to health ahead of Leicester City’s upcoming fixture against Liverpool on November 21st.

After all, it’s a top of the table clash that could end up being decisive down the line, and Brendan Rodgers will be especially keen to have his best players at his disposal, which now includes Fofana.

It’s an unwanted worry, and we’ll have to wait to find out whether or not he’ll be available in 11 days time.
