AS Monaco took Islam Slimani on a season-long loan deal from Leicester City last summer and have an option to make his transfer permanent.
France Football claims Roberto Moreno’s side will make a decision on the striker in the coming days.
The 31-year-old has nine goals and seven assists in 18 league appearances this term and his stay at Stade Louis II can be made permanent for €9m.
He attracted interest from elsewhere in the winter market, but Monaco vice president Oleg Petrov decided against allowing the Algeria international to leave the club.
Moreno replaced Leonardo Jardim at the end of last year and the Foxes owned player made three starts under the Spaniard in 2020.
It’s claimed the frontman’s relationship with Moreno is complicated and even though Slimani impressed against Paris Saint-Germain, Amiens and Montpellier, his future seems to be away from Monaco.
According the report, the player could be a ‘credible option’ in Ligue 1 because his profile could draw attention from top clubs like Rennes, Marseille, Lyon or Lille.
With a contract at Leicester City until 2021, Brendan Rodgers’ side will have to cash in from Slimani’s sale in the summer.
