Leicester City sent an official to the game between Rio Ave and Benfica last night, report Portuguese newspaper A Bola.

In recent seasons Premier League clubs have been travelling to Portugal every week on scouting trips, with Leicester City being no exception.

A Bola have confirmed Leicester City had a ‘spy’ on the scouting list for last night’s 1-1 draw, and were joined by fellow Premier League sides Everton, Manchester United and Manchester City.

Clubs across Europe were also present, which included the likes of Deportivo La Coruna, AS Monaco, Eibar, and Sparta Prague.

There have been no reports who Leicester City were watching last night, and it’s likely they were just on a general scouting trip. There are were no apparent players they could be targeting from Benfica, although the Premier League side attended Benfica games towards the end of last season too.

A Bola calls the Leicester official a ‘spy’, and with Benfica attracting a bumper crowd of such spies this weekend, they should perhaps expect a transfer approach or two before the deadline.
