Leicester City are posing a threat to AC Milan in signing Celtic star Kristoffer Ajer.
Calciomercato state the Rossoneri will strengthen their defence this summer.
The Serie A side have identified the Norway international and Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenković as two centre-back targets.
It’s claimed Milenković is preferred ahead of the Hoops defender, who is young and also has the experience of playing in Italy. He earns €800,000 a year in Florence and his salary shouldn’t be an issue for Milan.
According to the report, Fiorentina are demanding €40m to sanction the Serbian’s sale and that’s a problem for the San Siro club. Ajer, on the other hand, is viewed as a cheaper option and is valued around €20m.
However, Milan face a battle from the Foxes to sign the Celtic player as Brendan Rodgers’ side are also ‘pressing’ for his transfer. Leicester can offer Champions League football next season and could use this to tempt Ajer to join them over other suitors.
According to the website, the Premier League side would be an ‘obstacle’ for Milan to sign the defender.
The Celtic player is not a first-choice target for Milan and this would give Leicester an opportunity to step up their efforts to sign Ajer this summer.
