English clubs keep providing strong competition for the signing of Oghenekaro Etebo from Portuguese side Feirense. A Bola has an article about the player today, saying French club Lens have recently sent scouts to watch him.
When listing the clubs who want the winger, A Bola mention Arsenal, Leicester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Marseille, Lyon, Montpellier and Fenerbahce. But they don’t give many details on who would be leading the race.
From a Premier League perspective, Newcastle United or Leicester City would make much more sense for Etebo, with the player likelier to get chances under Rafael Benitez or Craig Shakespeare.
Feirense’s intention would be to keep the 21-year-old now, because they believe they can make more money with him if the transfer happens in the future.
Although the links with English clubs have been reported for a while, the Portuguese press never said how much Feirense would demand for the player.
Etebo has three goals and three assists this season. His contract with the Liga NOS side expires next year, so he’ll be probably getting a renewal offer in the summer.
One to watch for Newcastle and Leicester fans.
